Webinar Recap: Standardizing the Measurement of Safer Chemistry Across Global Supply Chains
On September 17th, the Safer Chemistry Impact Fund (SCI Fund) hosted a webinar on standardizing the measurement of safer chemistry across global supply chains, featuring SCI Fund’s Bill Walsh, ChemFORWARD's Rachel Simon and Stacy Glass, the Responsible Business Alliance's Benjamyn Marks, and the Environmental Health Network's Alexandra McPherson.
The discussion built on SCI Fund's recently released Impact Metrics Framework — an open-architecture framework giving companies, investors, and policymakers a common way to measure progress toward safer chemistry. The Framework translates complex chemical inventory and hazard data into standardized metrics, helping companies identify chemicals of concern, spot information gaps, benchmark progress, and make better decisions about safer alternatives. No comparable system existed to measure progress toward safer chemistry before it.
During this session, speakers made the case for a global standard, shared insights from sector pilots in Beauty & Personal Care, Consumer Electronics, and Apparel & Footwear, and discussed how to drive broad, cross-sector adoption of this reporting layer.
